Phuket,Thailand with our friends!
Back in the beginning of November, we were lucky enough to take a 4 day getaway with some very dear friends of ours and their little 6 month old daughter. We have been talking about doing something like this for ages so I am so glad things finally worked out before I got too big to travel- LOL. It’s funny, I met my friend K back when I was about 8 weeks pregnant with Ava, and at about the time I was delivering Ava, she became pregnant with their daughter E. Once she delivered E, I then became pregnant soon after with our little man, due this coming February. We constantly joke that one of these years we will BOTH be done being pregnant and breastfeeding & enjoy a wild mommy weekend getaway!! We’ve barely even had wine together for peets sake, let alone let loose without a worry in the world :). But, all that being said, going through all of this together the past couple years has truly proven that we have a solid, nurturing, honest, real, and fun friendship! I’m beyond happy our paths crossed that first day we met and I know K, M, and little e will be friends of ours for life- no matter where we all live :).
Anyway, when discussing where to go for a little getaway, the 3 priorities were this: Family (infant/toddler) friendly, spa access for us gals, and some golf for the guys. Since its the start of high tourist season around much of SE Asia this month, we really had to work hard at finding a place that suited our needs and didn’t break the bank. After researching flights and hotels, we decided on Phuket, Thailand….even though we have already been a couple years back (pre-babies), because its an awesome Thai island with a great vibe and only a short 1 hr flight north of us :). Once we decided on the where, we needed a place to stay and after much debate, decided to head back to The Indigo Pearl Resort. We had gone there for a work trip for David last time but I knew it would be perfect this time around for leisure and with babes in tow.
The Indigo Pearl is only about a 10 minute drive from the airport, (as opposed to car rides up to 1 hr down south to the more “popular” beach resorts) and sits just opposite a dirt road from a perfect little secluded beach, surrounded on all sides by a lush rainforest– very quiet and very secluded. Perfection. I mean really- are we gonna be out partying with our babes?! I think not. We would rather have an awesome resort and beach at our doorstep. It fit the bill perfectly. Let me also mention their amazing Spa- the Coqoon, awarded numerous awards for luxury and service, as well as the golf course they recommended, Blue Canyon, being only 10 minutes away for the guys. We were all set for a weekend of relaxation :).
The other fab part of this resort are the rooms. Very large with a little nook housing a daybed that has curtains all around it. It was the perfect place to set the pack & play (they provided for us FOC), and we were able to close off the area so Ava could sleep without interruption. We also were able to get rooms side by side so we enjoyed a couple nights room service on our patio with our friends while the girlies slept inside. The other 2 nights we took advantage of the resort’s babysitting services!! We made sure the girls were both asleep then snuck the nannies in to watch them while we dined at one of the resort’s restaurants. They were both amazing, the girls slept peacefully, and we enjoyed some much needed adult time!
The resort is huge and had loads of space for walking, a cute little kids club, an amazing family pool area (a couple adults only pool areas too), several restaurants, the spa, and about a 5 minute walk to the beach where there were loads of little huts serving up fresh seafood and cold beer. What a blast :). K and I also enjoyed a few hours at the spa, which was heavenly, and another day the guys enjoyed a round of golf….otherwise we played at the pool, walked on the beach, and simply enjoyed being away from day to day life while getting to know even better our great friends- life is good!
Until next time, travel with good friends- they make your world a better place~

What a beautiful time to share with good friends. Always enjoy your stories of travel.
[…] Right after we came off our high from Halloween, we were lucky enough to jet off to Phuket, Thailand with some friends for a low key and relaxing weekend away with our babes, who are about 9 months apart. So much fun relaxing in the sun, swimming in the pool, going to the spa, golfing, laughing….I wanted to be sure and squeeze this one in before I got too big and being with The Darley’s was the perfect remedy to my little blanket of gloom I had fallen under. You can read all about our weekend away here. […]
